1.3.1 Bridge Alfa

Program Name:

Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020, Priority Axis I: Support for R&D activity of enterprises, Measure 1.3: R&D activity financed with capital funds participation

Sub-measure 1.3.1: Support for R&D projects at the ‘pre-seed’ stage by proof of concept funds – BRIdge Alfa

Project goals:

The aim of the project is to enable non-laboratory studies of pesticide residues in agricultural products, by developing and using innovative technology of proprietary RS4PD (Raman Spectroscopy for Pesticide Detection) substrates. RS4PD is an author’s idea and production of the SERS type substrate, optimized for pesticide measurements in selected agricultural products. RS4PD technology will be used to build and test prototype measurement systems based on data recognition from SERS, supported by machine learning methods.

Project value: PLN 1,055,000.00

Contribution of European Funds: PLN 844,000.00

Planned effects:

The need to implement the project is to limit the use of pesticides in agriculture. This is due to high consumer demand, environmental issues and the requirements of the European Parliament and EU Council regulations defining the maximum amounts of pesticides in agricultural products placed on the market. This means that each batch of agricultural product should be verified for pesticide content, and only products that meet the standards can be placed on the market.

As a result of the project, the technology of producing own SERS substrates with sensitivity required by standards will be developed, which will allow to collect reference data for a selected group of fruits and vegetables. Own RS4PD substrates will be used to build and run MVD (minimum viable demonstrator) prototype measurement systems. Next, the operation of prototype measuring systems will be verified by selected industry partners.
